Vanex PEX tubing is the ideal solution for radiant floor heating systems and hot/cold water distribution systems. Made from cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), Vanex is a natural for hydronic heating systems or an excellent alternative to rigid plumbing systems. With its flexibility and ease for installation and servicing, you can count on its stability! PEX systems have been widely used in the European market for over 25 years. Cross-linking is a permanent chemical change that occurs in Vanex PEX to make it both flexible and durable. The stiffness of Vanex PEX makes the material resistant to damage during installation. Vanex PEX is flexible enough, however, to bend into a tight radius. Its flexibility allows it to be installed in continuous lengths, with fewer fittings. This means faster installation and better service with less time and expense. Long runs without joints are easily accomplished with coils of Vanex PEX. Typical applications include in-slab piping, radiant floor staple-ups and long runs behind walls. Coils are particularly suitable for use with domestic hot and cold water systems. For easier identification when using Vanex PEX in plumbing systems, Vanex can be ordered color coded: red for hot water and blue for cold water. Maximum pressure temperature ratings are 100 psi @ 180°F and 160 psi @ 73°F. Vanex tubing is incrementally marked on all coil lengths. Vanex Tubing Vanex Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX)
Vanex PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) tubing is flexible, durable and proven through more than 20 years of use throughout Europe. Vanex PEX is recommended for use in hot and cold water distribution and hydronic heating systems. Vanex, white, red, or blue in color, is available in 1/4" through 1" sizes in coils as well as 20' straight lengths and incrementally marked on coils of 500' or greater. Red and blue Vanex PEX tubing offers the benefit of color-coding for easy identification of hot and cold lines. Vanex is available in a MANAPAC tubing package which, contains 2 - 500' coils of 3/8" Vanex tubing on disposable reels to facilitate installation of MANABLOC distribution systems. Vanex is CTS-OD sized (copper tube size, outside diameter controlled) with an SDR-9 (Standard Dimension Ratio) wall thickness which yields maximum pressure/temperature ratings of 100 psi @ 180° F and 160 psi @ 73° F. Vanex is manufactured and third party certified to ASTM F876 and F877. Cross-linking is a permanent chemical change that occurs in Vanex, giving it these advantages over other piping materials: Vanex is flexible and can be installed with fewer directional fittings in less time, and at less expense, than rigid plumbing systems. Vanex can stretch to accommodate the expansion of freezing water and then return to its original size when water thaws. Although Vanex is highly freeze-break resistant, no material is freeze-break proof. Vanex offers superior chemical and environmental stress crack resistance. Vanex tubing connected with the CRIMPSERT® fitting system is one of the fastest joining systems in the U.S.

CRIMPSERT Insert Fittings & Crimp Rings
Vanguard CRIMPSERT metallic insert fittings and black, copper crimp rings are to be used as connections for Vanex PEX tubing in 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 1" sizes. The 3/4" and 1" fittings may also be used to connect Vanguard Proguard CTS-OD SDR9 polyethylene water service tubing. The connections are assembled with a full-circle crimp tool designed specifically for that purpose and are the same tools that were previously used to assemble insert and crimp ring fittings with polybutylene.
A permanent, sealed connection is made when a copper crimp ring is compressed around the tubing, pressing the PEX into spaces between the ribs of the fitting insert. A wide range of fittings is available to make connections, reductions or transitions to PEX tubing, fixtures, or other piping material. The line also features a complete selection of ball and stop valves.
CRIMPSERT metallic fittings are manufactured from lead-free* extruded or forged brass with some fittings supplied in copper. All CRIMPSERT fittings are precision made to tight tolerances for a consistent fit with Vanex PEX tubing.
The black, copper crimp rings are manufactured from UNS C102200 copper alloy. Rings are annealed to 35-45 Rockwell 15T scale for ease of crimping. The black coating is not paint but a surface treatment that does not add to the dimensions of the ring.
CRIMPSERT fittings and rings are manufactured and certified to the requirements of ASTM F1807 to insure compatibility with all SDR9 PEX tubing and fitting components from numerous manufacturers.
CRIMPSERT metallic fittings are designed to be used with Vanguard Vanex PEX tubing for hot and cold water conveyance systems operating up to 100 psi @ 180°F and 160 psi @ 73°F. Applications include, but are not limited to potable water distribution and hydronic heating systems.
CRIMPSERT fitting system components are interchangeable with components and tubing from other PEX suppliers providing they are manufactured to the same ASTM specifications and the manufacturer approves the mixing of components. Because Vanguard has no control over the quality of other manufacturers, we do not extend any warranty to those components that are not supplied by Vanguard.
For information on other hot and cold applications not listed here, consult with your Vanguard representative.
* Lead-free, as defined by the EPA as of the printing of this document, is material that contains less than 8% lead. Typically, brass CRIMPSERT fittings have a lead content of 3.5% or less and meet the requirements of ANSI/NSF 61 for lead extraction.

MANABLOC (Water Management)
The MANABLOC manifold water distribution system is the most efficient water management technology on the market. Recognized as one of the most significant advances in plumbing technology. The patented MANABLOC system services each plumbing fixture with a dedicated water line from the central MANABLOC manifold plumbing control unit.
Already installed in thousands of homes, the system offers many benefits:
The MANABLOC system equalizes pressure, making it possible to use multiple fixtures simultaneously without dramatic temperature or pressure changes.
The MANABLOC system uses less water and conserves more energy than other systems.
Fixture repairs are easier to make because each fixture has its own shut-off valve.
The MANABLOC system uses Vanex® PEX tubing making it quick and economical to install, as well as enhancing its long-term durability.
The MANABLOC system is NSF-pw listed for potable water use.
The MANABLOC distribution system utilizes a modular water distribution manifold and PEX hot and cold distribution lines to supply each side of each fixture with its own dedicated line. This minimizes water temperature and pressure changes during simultaneous operation of numerous fixtures. Additional benefits of a properly designed and installed system include: faster hot water delivery, water and energy savings and few fittings located behind the wall. Each distribution port of the MANABLOC has its own built-in valve and compression connection. Each distribution line then requires only a transition fitting at the fixture end.
The MANABLOC distribution manifold is available in several standard configurations that are designed to serve the hot and cold outlet needs of most residences. These standard units are kept in stock to reduce delivery time. Additional non-stock or custom units can be configured to accommodate nearly any application and are fabricated on request with a reasonable lead- time.

Hydronic Radiant Heating
The concept of radiant floor heating is simple: Heated water is circulated through tubes in or under the floor. The heated floor then becomes a huge radiator that warms people and objects in the room through radiant energy transfer. This method of heating has proven to be more comfortable and efficient than traditional forced-air systems.
